Views from Cathedral Peak (make sure to use the terrain view) near Santa Barbara…looking out over said city, Goleta, SB Airport, UCSB, and a hint of the Channel Islands.
Click on them to make them very very big.
This is what the summit looks like from the trailhead:
And what various things looked like on the way up:
Anyways, more thrilling content to come. Including, perhaps, a harrowing tale of my ascent…and other such fine stories (such why I woke up with a state trooper pounding on my door at 6:30 AM). And many more pictures.
Unfortunately for my ambitious plan to blog more once summer started, real people work takes up just as much time, if not more, than school work. Fortunately, I’ve finally been shamed enough to sacrificed some precious sleep to bring you this little blog-morsel. Hope your appetite is appropriately whetted.

Cathedral Peak is an excellent hike in SB! Those views are killer (so is the hike to get to them!) You took some good pictures of the area as well-those will always be keep sakes. Things like that keep you coming back over the years. I love hiking, especially in Santa Barbara. Great work out and the luscious nature never gets old to me. Over the years I have learned the in’s and outs of the area and trails and if you are new-pointers and tips are a must! What to look out for (poison oak!) and so forth. A good hotel if you are just traveling the area is the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). Close to countless trails with excellent views!
oh your pictures really do the hike justice! I love Cathedral Peak for hiking in Santa Barbara. Great views of the whole city and part of other cities and beyond! The Channel Islands on a clear day is an easy find and there is nothing better then that. Not too hard of a hike and a great way to spend the day with friends and family. My friends and I used to do this one all the time when we went to UCSB. Sadly we all graduated and had to leave but we never stopped coming to our beloved town and doing the hike when we can! Now instead of living in the infamous Isla Vista, we stay at the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). Extremely close to this trail head and a great stay!
Spectacular photos of Cathedral Peak. I did this exact hike a few weeks ago when I was visiting some friends and loved it. A bit hard but I love a good challenge, especially when it comes to the outdoors and hiking. It was SO hot out, crazy how it was March at the time as well! Thank god we brought lots of water or we would of been doomed! Great trip, cannot wait for part 2 this summer sometime when I free up the time! We stayed at this great little place -the South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com). Fairly close to this trail head and super elegant as well.
