About (now illustrated)!

**Updated Dec, 2012**

Welcome to my blog!  (Since December 2008…hosted since August 2010)

I am a 22 year old graduate of Vassar College, class of 2012. I majored in biology and am preparing to attend medical school in the fall of 2013. Where I will end up exactly come fall is still up in the air, but I have been accepted by at least one school and am waiting to hear back from a few more. In the meantime, I have been living in Durham, North Carolina with my girlfriend since August. Vastly underestimating the difficulty of landing a lab job, I have been working part time on the food truck Baguettaboutit for the past few months. Chances for employment in the non-service industry grows slimmer each day as my long-term availability continues to dwindle. I have also been far pickier than I have the right to. Nevertheless, after a few weeks at home for Christmas, I do plan to move on from food trucking and hopefully find a good waitering position somewhere. I am also gradually developing some nebulous plans for extensive traveling after the interview season is over, i.e. starting some time in April. But really, my fiscal and temporal budget won’t allow me to go to nearly all the places I want to. Some serious planning will surely need to be done.

When I am not browsing the internet and devouring NYTimes articles, I like to take pictures on occasion, play ultimate frisbee whenever I can, and travel when I have the money and time. I suppose I have an above-average interest in technology, urban development, and sports; as well as a hypocritical interest in environmental conservation and sustainability. I am a Celtics, Saints, Patriots, and Red Sox fan, in that order. I also love  good food of all description.

I’ve been taking pictures somewhat semi-almost-seriously for a few years now, mostly on my D40 and now my D90. Did a bunch of black and white 35mm stuff for awhile while in high school too, but haven’t had the time/motivation to go back to that yet. Maybe I will foray into making short videos at some point, but that seems to require more planning, editing, and talent…

I try to post most of my better pictures here, but there are some older ones on flickr and Google/Google+ (most notably from Greece and Montreal).

And I’m a fan of Twitter too, always useful:

There’s bits of all sorts of things on this blog, but the most recent interesting posts are from my summer 2009 trip in Europe and some traveling from the past summer. I try to post plenty of pictures, though that sometimes doesn’t quite work out.

I got referred to both this blogging thing and twitter by my friend Ian…who has been keeping an awesome photoblog that you should probably check out

Also, my brother has a blog too at http://yluk.blogspot.com/ It’s full of nonsensical poems and pictures.

Thanks! Sorry I haven’t responded until now (I really thought I did). Anyhow, I think RSS should work? At least through Google Reader. Maybe that’s a special case. I’ll look into it when I get a chance.
